Quinn Signs HB3034 into Law During Visit to Lewis University

Gov. Pat Quinn signed two bills Tuesday, August 2 at the main campus of Lewis University in Romeoville: SB 1766, which allows landlords to evict tenants who commit serious crimes for rent, and HB 3034, which helps protect homeowners who are trying to recover after a natural disaster.

Quinn, State Senator A.J. Wilhelmi (D-43), representatives Ann Williams (D-11) and Dennis Reboletti (R-46), Joliet Mayor Thomas Giarrante, Secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Brent Adams and others in the area were received by H. . James Gaffney, FSC, president of Lewis University.

“On behalf of Lewis University, welcome back to school, Gov. Quinn, and thanks for your leadership and support legislation that promotes joint liability, social and the common good,” said Gaffney.

“It’s good to be back at Lewis University, is a special place,” Quinn said, continuing, “Consumer protection and the protection of our neighborhoods is important for all big cities like Joliet, the fourth largest city Illinois. ”

Gaffney Quinn also thanked for his leadership and Lewis University is an institution “that promotes social justice and believes in the common good,” invited him to participate in signing the measure. SB 1766 is effective immediately and HB 3034 will take effect on January 1, 2012.
